EXPLOSION!: Lala Laboratory, no more.

Authorities scramble to find the culprits behind the Lala Laboratory bombing.

Three days ago, Lala was tried in court and forced to disclose the location of her secret underground laboratory. Courts issued a warrant permitting the Art Guild to search the laboratory premises where they found
incriminating evidence of Lala’s unethical, not to mention illegal, art and inspiration experiments on Muses.

Yesterday, the building was evacuated, leaving approximately 70 Muses and Drones homeless.  Authorities say that Lala was not found inside the laboratory during the sting operation.  However, it turns out that during the event, Lala Drona and her selected entourage (Drone #1, DJ Mafe and Drone Olchin) went into hiding in a secret wing of the laboratory, one that does not appear in Lala Laboratory architectural plans. Le group played a congenial game of poker throughout the night.

At 2am, authorities received word of an explosion in distric 94.  The Lala Laboratory had been bombed.

Drones alerted the authorities that Lala Drona and her entourage were trapped inside.  Six hours later, search and rescue dogs sniffed out the group.  Lala described the event:

“There was a terrible ringing in my ears as I looked for my companions. I found DJ Mafe first, who told me that Drone Olchin and Drone #1 were trapped behind a door wedged shut by a large scolding pipe. There was yelling on the other side of the door. The walls were caving in. Mafe and I pushed the pipe up and out of the way, freeing the Drones.” Mafe and Lala Drona obtained 2^nd and 3^rd degree burns on their hands from the ordeal.

Search and rescue teams successfully removed the group from the rubble at 2:20PM, 12 hours after the bomb had gone off. They are currently being treated at the Paris Plaza Hospital in the 4^th arrondissement under 24 hour surveillance, as they are now considered a security threat.

Damages to the lab were irreparable. They include the destruction of all current art projects, Lala’s current manuscript, and administrative material such as gallery contracts and invoices for artwork sold. All progress made on Muse inspiration extraction research has been lost.

Authorities are specifically interested in finding a small laboratory notebook with the words “Lala Laboratory” written on the cover (photo on left).  The contents of this notebook are considered to be highly dangerous and the notebook is thought to play a crucial part in solving the laboratory bombing case.

Scandal: Muse Sweatshop Discovered

Lala Drona’s trip to the United States was not in vain!  After successful meetings with prosthetics technicians and various biotech designers, she has officially become the first artist with a mechanical hand.

Due to legal issues, we are not able to reveal details implicating the creators nor the model/brand of the new and controversial bio-prosthetic.  However, a thorough investigation indicates slight participation by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). Nonetheless, Based on a Fact would like to break another story.  A story involving the torture of Muses.  Torture perpetuated by an artist we all know very well.  It was Lala Drona who used Muses as test subjects in research for her new mechanical hand.

Journalists infiltrated the very secret Lala Laboratory which is, to media knowledge, still under construction.  Inside, journalists found small rooms that were fully furnished.  Rooms officially confirmed to be Muse research sites.

Muses from all over the Department 94, France are reporting abuse to unions and officials everywhere.  Muses state that they were held hostage and brainwashed to undergo experiments.  Reports describe Muses texting on smartphones and typing on laptops for days on end after forced prosthetic attachments. Lala has pleaded “no comment” to reporters on the subject, while refusing to let the authorities examine her hand.  A deeper investigation into the Lala Laboratory is scheduled for next week while the authorities wait for a proper search warrant.  Only time can tell what will surface next concerning Lala and her questionable projects.

From Paris to Denver

          Sources at Air France have confirmed that Lala Drona will be returning home to the mile-high city in one week’s time.  To the disappointment of Drones everywhere, Lala does not plan to participate in gallery showings nor plans to make appearances at any high-society events.  An interview with the L.D. Times states that the artist is in fact returning to the US for medical reasons.

As Drones everywhere know, Lala’s medical past has been a source of inspiration for her art.  In the L.D. Times article, she speaks about plans for a future series called Cyborgs Have More Fun which like her ongoing Breast Series is inspired by bodily alterations.  “The reconstruction of her breast at such an early age called for a reformation of her entire world view,” states Valerie Cutter, head child psychologist at the University of Minnesota.  “She finds comfort in modification, in change.  It’s no wonder she’s attracted to the idea of cyborg.”

With her breast reconstruction trauma far behind her, Lala has big plans for her next bodily modification. Friedrich Strasse, Events Coordinator for the Drones Research Program-Berlin states that Lala has been having hand and wrist issues for years, often interfering with her work.

“We used to joke about her being the first artist with a mechanical hand.  I never thought she’d actually do it!” Sources say Lala plans to meet with an American team of medical specialists and designers to create a prosthetic for Lala’s hand.

In online forums, Drones discuss Lala’s future plans for hand modification, wary of the effects it may have on her art.  Will the art still be hers, or will her style change?  When will the project be underway, and is the project in connection to the Lala Laboratory?  Drones everywhere are on the lookout for Lala in Colorado, trying to catch a glimpse of the artist in her natural habitat.

Sneak Peek of the Lala Laboratory

Caught! Into the rabbit-hole she goes…

As all you Drones know, Lala has locked herself up in her Paris home for the past week, causing many to worry about her mental stability and personal safety.  A video has surfaced of her painting a doll in a child-like style and chanting her own name.  Is this part of her Sexe sans Sex series, or has she fallen into a bizarre and perhaps damaging rabbit-hole?

The journalist who uploaded the video said that the reason (s)he invaded the privacy of the artist was “to make sure Lala was okay, and not a danger to herself or others…and also to reassure the authorities and fellow Drones of this.”

Based on a Fact questions how the doll Lala is painting fits into her overall Sexe sans Sex series.  Is this proof that Lala has really lost it?  Since this is the first time someone has documented Lala during the act of creation, we’re not sure if this proves mental instability or  represents an eccentric artistic process.  After some investigation, Based on a Fact found that “lala” means “doll” in Polish.  Perhaps it’s a stretch, or perhaps this proves a method behind her madness.

Lala herself has yet to respond to the breach of privacy, but in past interviews, she has commented on the topic.  “In our technologically advanced world, we’re all living in public.  It’s just where we’re heading.  Whether it means we are heading towards an Orwellian dystopia or a more ethical society; we don’t know yet.  Either way, we have a choice in front of us: embrace it or hide from it” (L.D. Times interview, 2013).

“Sexe sans Sex” series update

Has Lala Sold Out?

Even though Lala has escaped the allure of Paris, fans seem to be seeing her everywhere, but not at all where they expected.  In Paris, billboards of internet dating sites have been emerging left and right.  The recent boom has also elicited a trend of sites advertised to married couples, to have “extra-conjugales” relationships, meaning “something on the side.”  Some may believe that a celebrity would not be caught dead with their face on such a controversial advertisement.  However, Lala stares back at us, a temptress with an apple in hand.

So why did Lala agree to do the advertisement?  When contacted by Based on a Fact, she stated, “I wanted to make people think, react.  I had a very strong reaction to the topic, and could not get the idea out of my head.  I try not to run away from things when I’m scared.  I take them head on because there is something interesting to find in that fear.  I take it and I eat it.”

It is true that Lala’s presence in the advertisement does create a bit more of a dialogue about the topic.  This advertisement exposes the holes in our traditions, and the backlash forces people with a point of view on the topic to be more opinionated, stronger in their conviction.  The truth is, whether this advertisement is up or not, people will still be finding a way to do the same thing.  The image simply makes us confront what is happening in our everyday world. As Lala said in a former interview, “In our technologically driven world, more and more options will be put in front of us.  Now, more than ever, we get to choose kind of the people we want to be.”

Despite Lala’s attempt to explain her artistic process behind the advertisement, fans are still wondering if Lala has simply sold out.  According to her financial struggle this past year, traveling and staying outside of Paris does not seem feasible.  Perhaps Lala has just done the advertisement to fund a eurotrip?  Fans faithfully await, hoping not to be disappointed by Lala’s next move.
